YPD + Zeo agar plates - (Dec/05/2011 )

I made several YPD + Zeo plates today, but I think I may have added 2/3 of the Zeo that I was supposed to add. Can I still use the YPD + Zeo plates, or will I need to make new ones?

Is there a simple test I can run to check if the plates are okay to use?

Plate out wild type and zeo resistant strains on one of your plates. The wt should not grow, the resistant ones should.

You could also look up the minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) for zeocin for your wild-type strain, and then check if the zeo concentration in your plates is just above that value...if it is you should be mostly fine.
