But if you're looking for a chemist (for validating etc your idea) then this is a good place as any. You might find someone who might really be interested...you just have to keep on looking. Goodluck.
okay. Thank you. I appreciate that. I'll look past the less-than-respectable people on here and see what else I may come up with! Thanks!

But his comments are more than negative. I think that everyone recognises George’s contribution to this forum (and not only in the tech sections) but is this rudeness (esp in this thread) and the resultant ill will totally necessary? And do you think it was meant to be helpful or that it will be taken kindly (try to put yourself in LT’s shoes)? Who wouldn’t prefer honesty and frankness and IMO, we all can accept constructive criticism but only if we feel that it’s given with the best intent and not as a show of superiority and meant only to belittle or disparage, and as a consequence, some of us would react adversely.
Lab Techie is a member of this community so he’s got every right to post a query. Now, if we don’t like what he’s asking nor the manner he’s asking it, if we’ve got nothing better to offer (esp since we don’t have the whole story) then we just ignore the thread and change channels. ““idea””, “of what use are you”, “childish concept”, “grow up”……this can be said in a lot better way but I know that George doesn’t care about hurting feelings (that’s how frank and honest he is)...so do you think LT would listen and appreciate this kind of “advice”? Would you? Honestly, would you feel like a man if you accept this "advice" graciously?
And I think that there’s a difference between hypocrisy and politeness/civility (if respect is too much to give or ask for)…of course, we all know, as George put it, there's a rude world out there but must we bring all that harshness in here and not only propagate but even delight in it? You see what happens…what started off as a harmless query has now the potential of turning into another flame war and once again a thread lockdown?
And how would you feel if I give you the same rude treatment? Esp if you’re thinking I’m far inferior in terms of scientific/tech knowledge and experience (how dare me, right)? But would it then be alright if you do it to me just because you can or you think I deserve it and then expect me not to respond? Then it becomes a vicious cycle what with all the egos involved. Besides, what is our message here? We’re gonna start shooting down posts that we deem not up to our “standards”? I’m sorry but Mussolini is dead and shld remain dead (and that’s my honest and frank opinion about it)….
Casandra. Again you have nothing of relevance to offer but your "feelings." This about patents and I know the subject well and you do not.
Lab tech's comments and proposal are childish. I hope he or she grows up and enters the real world one day soon.

George. Again...regarding your expertise in everything, hmmm....perhaps, so I'll take your word for it. And this is sounding so déjà vu......but you shld put a longer leash on Mr Hyde, then maybe even I will listen to you.....meanwhile, lighten up and check out Black Eyed Peas'
Put feeling into research , then you will ruin everything. Trust me on that.
Everyone has feeling yes.We are human after all. But try to make it professional and put feeling aside for this purpose.
Research is harsh , it will beat u down to ur knee if u let it. But instead of pointing finger to everyone, i think it's worthwhile to look at ourselves sometimes. maybe we are the one who's letting ourselves being eaten by ourselves.
George is being frank and straight to the point. A very very very rare but respectable attribute among ppl nowadays.
AFter all,
It's not about you, it's about science.

Hi hanming,
George is not just being frank and straight to the point, he was downright insulting and derisive...just take a look at how he responded to me and I wasn't that provocative. I could see his point and most probably Lab Techie did too but like I said, he could have said his point a little better....are you condoning this rudeness? And rudeness is not rare but what is respectable there? And I wouldn't be so dismissive of feelings at all...why else are you standing up for him?
But just to prove a point....let me re-write his posts without changing the content (and without his permission ) and let's ask Lab Techie how he'd "take" the modified ones. Tomorrow ...part II...sorry, bed time ....
casandra
Yes i did look at most of his posts. He's a downright serious evaluator of ppl's comments. If you got a good point, he will not give negative comment and vice versa. U might not appreciate ppl like this in bioforum but i do. Perhaps having seen a lil bit of both the dark and bright side of science, i have gotten to this conclusion. life ain't always sunshine and rainbow. Gotta be strong and move on.I mean if we can't take criticism like this and keep complaining about it instead of finding a way to improve ourselves, then what use are we .. really in science.
agree with hamming to the extent that that folks, esp. those trying to make business deals, need to take criticism and move on. sorry miss manners, old georgie's question so why does (the inventor) need you? is not rude - it's what anyone in such dealings from vc to technology inventor would ask. from Trump to Eli Whitney, they'd want something substantial to the ultimate goal of financial reward from the guy. wonder if the Wright brothers would have given a piece of the action to someone who had suggested "why don't you guys invent something so we could fly?"
re. the proposal, the patent literature is replete with such stuff - from microbes to enzymes treating everything from toxic compounds to unwanted slimes and soils in situ to batch and continuous-flow treatment. even if this prior art didn't exist, patentability of techie's trivial description is highly unlikely even in less demanding patent venues such as Japan. i'll add that companies that do their own R&D are generally wary of "inventor's" ideas - they can jeopardize/complicate proprietary nature of ongoing internal research. they sure follow the scientific and patent lit.

Now I know whom I've been missing ....Miss Manners, eh...hah...you call me this afterall the impudence and irreverence I've doled out to you. Well, at least it's better than Miss 'Tech Ignoramus' or Miss 'Hurt Feelings'....I appreciate the ironic twist . And it was rude, just as I was rude to you and George (nope, actually I was more rude)..but you wouldn't know the difference because you're Mr Bad Manners. But I like this new you Eberth...did you read again your post, you've shed a lot of the attitude? It doesn't put me on the defensive or worse, extremely offensive mode.
Really, I've to ask myself why must we go first thru an initial bout of nastiness before we can get to the real helpful insights? Did it hurt so much to post something civilised devoid of ad homs and flaming? So what's the helpful, more practical advice for Lab Techie...just to drop it cos it's hopeless and will never pan out? That a person alone, not connected to an institution with very limited resources has no chance at all to make his "idea" work and no company will ever be interested to invest in it?
And I've another query (since you are in the sharing mood anyways) which he also mentioned in his post....about this confidentiality agreement. How does it work or does it really work at all and how is it enforced?
